Top 10 Favourite Fast and Furious Cars

It has officially been confirmed that another Fast and Furious movie is in production and will be released sometime in 2017.? A lot of you might be asking yourself, “What this movie could possibly entail ?” especially when you consider it is the 8th instalment of the same story line.? Listen, when a movie grosses over 1 billion dollars worldwide like Furious 7 did, producers would be crazy to not take another crack at it.? The reality of the situation is; people love to see a celebrity packed cast furiously driving fast cars. Vin Diesel recently posted on his social media a picture of himself and director Justin Lin.? This ignited rumours that Lin might be directing the next movie.? As a result of this news, I’ll give you a little reminder as to why people seem to love this franchise so much.? Here are the Top 10 Fast and Furious cars of all time… both import and muscle:

Owner: LAPD/FBI – Driven by Brian O’Conner (Played by Paul Walker)

Brian O’Conner’s 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse was heavily modified with the help of the LAPD/FBI’s wallet.? It had a 16 valve dual overhead cam 2 litre engine and puts out 165hp.? The ’95 Eclipse was only seen in the first movie, but it is one of the most memorable cars of the franchise.? However, the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS made an appearance in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003).?

Tokyo Drift was not as well received as the rest of the Fast & Furious movies.? There weren’t many fans of the script/storyline and after this movie came out a lot of people assumed that it was the end of the franchise.? However, say what you want about the storyline and script, car lovers cannot deny that Tokyo Drift was packed with beautiful cars.? The 1967 Ford Mustang is a?perfect example of it.? I personally think a ‘67 Mustang is flawless and if in good condition it should remain untouched. However, this is Hollywood and in order for Sean to win his last race in Tokyo Drift, he and his father put a Nissan Skyline GT-R engine into it.?

The Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R became a staple in the franchise. Five different versions of it appeared in five different films. It was Brian O’Conner’s car in The Fast and The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Fast & Furious.? Paul Walker loved it so much he actually bought the one he drove in the fourth film, the 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.

This was a fun addition to the roster of Fast & Furious vehicles.? The Jensen Interceptor is an English sporting GT-class car made with Chrysler V8 engines.? Interceptors were actually only in production from 1966 until 1976 and there were only 6,408 made. In Fast and Furious 6, Letty drives an awesome matte grey Jensen Interceptor.? ?

This car belonged to one of the most loved characters in the franchise.? He was one of the original members of Dom Toretto’s group and the 1997 Mazda RX-7 was actually showcased at the 2005 Tokyo Autoshow.? Universal saw it and liked it so much that they decided to buy it and just change the colour of the vehicle from burgundy to orange.? The car you see in the photo came with a Veilside Fortune body kit which the producers chose to keep as well. ? ?

My goodness this car is a vision. The Fast Five version of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport was specifically built for the film by Mongoose Motors.? The Corvette was specifically?assembled to drive in an off-roading, dessert, train heist scene. Of all the cars in the Fast Five movie, this one apparently barely had any appearance modifications other than the paint job.

Owner: Roman & Tej (Played by Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris)

The 2007 Koenigsegg CXX R Edition was the most expensive car featured in the Fast Five film… and there were two of them.? At the end of the film, both Roman and Tej show up in one each.? This Swedish beauty was only produced between 2005 and 2010, and only 6 of this edition were made.? Despite how attractive these cars are, they are supposedly very difficult to resell.? The sell for $2 million brand new, but if you want to sell it on your own, make sure it is in perfect condition otherwise you will probably only get about $1.5 million back. A huge part of the reason is also because there isn’t a big market for 1,018 horsepower cars that run on bio-ethanol.

Another nod goes to Fast Five for its casting of the 1965 Ford GT40.? It is one of the most successful American race cars.? Like most Fast & Furious movie cars, the one seen in Fast Five is a replica built solely for the movie.? The GT40 earned its name because it stands 40 inches tall which is about 5 inches shorter than the Lamborghini Gallardo.? From 1966-1969 it won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans racetrack beating out the best from Ferrari, Matra and Porsche – among others.? There were only 107 GT40s ever made from 1964-1969. ?

Paul Walker rose to international fame when he was first introduced to the world as Brian O’Conner in The Fast and The Furious. After his police-bought Mitsubishi gets totaled, Brian picks up a Toyota Supra MkIV from the junkyard.? He spends a lot of his time bonding with Dom while they were fixing?up this junkyard find.

Call it a cliché, but when I think of the Fast and Furious franchise, I think of the first one that ever came out: The Fast and the Furious (2001). The image that immediately pops into my mind is of Vin Diesel’s fierce eyes peering over his left shoulder while his left hand grips the steering wheel of his 1970’s Dodge Charger. The 900 horsepower muscle car returned to help break Dom out of prison in films 4 and 5.? ?

? Countless cars have been featured in the Fast and Furious franchise movies, and honestly – none of them are terrible. There are so many gorgeous machines in this movie that it was difficult to narrow it down to just 10.?I?am also a?fan of muscle cars, so you‘ll notice a lot of them made my list! Keep your eye out for the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise in 2017. These movies seem to get bigger and better and so do the cars!
