Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Gets Stylish Carbon-Fiber Upgrade

Even the floor is made entirely of Alcantara.

This year’s Geneva Motor Show saw the premiere of TechArt’s GrandGT Supreme, a luxurious styling package for the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo with a striking appearance and a lavish, all-leather interior. Now, the German tuner has unveiled a sportier alternative: the GrandGT Selective, featuring a lovingly handcrafted interior and extensive use of carbon fiber applied to the exterior.

On the outside, the GrandGT Selective features an assortment of carbon fiber attachments including an aero hood, side mirrors, and rear panel. Additionally, the tuner has also added carbon-coated highlights such as a front apron, rear apron, extensions, front splitter, diffuser and air outlet panel. All these elements combine to give the German wagon a more aggressive appearance.

Rounding off the exterior enhancements are titanium tailpipes with carbon fiber coating, 22-inch alloys with blue brake calipers and black TechArt lettering, and two-tone paintwork combining matt black paint with high-gloss riviera blue accents. The result looks spectacular.

The exterior’s eye-catching color scheme has been applied to the lovingly detailed cabin too, as the GrandGT Selective adopts a 2+2 bi-color Alcantara interior in black and Riviera Blue. The blue accents feature more prominently on the driver’s side. Elsewhere, the doors have fine decorative stitching in Riviera Blue, while the dashboard top and the side center console is covered with matching Alcantrara. The black Alcantara headliner has a Riviera Blue central stripe echoing the exterior and even the floor is made entirely of Alcantara.

Like the GrandGT Supreme, the GrandGT Selective benefits from the TechArt Techtronic Powerkit for the Panamera Turbo. As a result, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8’s output has increased from 550 hp 640 hp, while peak torque has risen from 568 lb-ft to 664 lb-ft. These modifications enable the Panamera Sport Turismo to sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and top out at 190 mph. TechArt isn’t done with the Panamera just yet either, as the tuner will be showcasing a new power kit for the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid at the Essen Motor Show in December.

Porsche 993 911 Gets Carbon-Fiber Transformation

The last air-cooled 911 becomes even more desirable when covered in carbon fiber.

With all the spectacular reveals at this year's Monterey Car Week, you may have missed the Gunther Werks carbon-fiber 993 body unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. While there is no shortage of 911 restomodders and specialists around, the California-based 911 specialists have meticulously designed and is well worth a look.

Having already wowed us last year with the impressive 400R, this next step in the continued evolution of the 993-generation 911 now adds the benefits of carbon fiber construction to this iconic car. A lighter curb weight and stiffer structure all serve to improve the vehicle’s dynamic abilities while the arches at all four corners have been extended to allow for a wider footprint on the road.

25-years-ago, exotic materials like carbon fiber were only being experimented with on priceless supercars like the Jaguar XJR-15 and McLaren F1. Producing each bodyshell took thousands of hours whereas today the same process takes a fraction of the time.

Gunther Werks says that its goal is to incorporate the latest chassis, construction and drivetrain technologies into these cars without losing the analog feel that they are famed for. This can be seen under the carbon skin too where the hand-built 400 hp+ 4.0-liter flat-six, designed by Rothsport Racing, is still air-cooled and sounds and feels like a development of the original.

The gearbox too is a reworked G50 unit with custom gear ratios and while the interior is totally updated, it retains all the styling cues that identify it as a 911. Gunther Werks customers can choose from a whole host of additional upgrades such as carbon-ceramic brakes, active suspension systems and a Sport Touring Pack as seen on its first carbon fiber build at the event, a Chelsea Grey 993 replete with ducktail spoiler.

You can supply your own cars for the conversion or leave the whole lot to Gunther Werks, either way only 25 cars are planned for production so if you are interested best get in touch with the team sooner than later.
