Beverage Holder Lid Will Not Open

REVISION SUMMARY



Most sections were revised extensively. American Honda recommends that you review the entire service bulletin.



SYMPTOM



The hinged lid covering the beverage holder does not open.



PROBABLE CAUSE



The center console is slightly out of alignment, causing the beverage holder lid to bind against the center console panel.



CORRECTIVE ACTION



Replace the beverage holder and the beverage holder trim.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



1. With MT only Lower the shift lever boot to release the hooks from the spacer. Loosen the spacer with a 17 mm wrench, then remove the shift



knob and the spacer.



2. Open the utility pocket and the front accessory socket lids.

3. Gently pull up the front edge of the center console panel by hand to make a gap, then pry up on the panel with the appropriate trim tool to detach



the front clips.



4. Hook the edge of the panel beside the parking brake lever with the appropriate trim tool, then lift to detach the clip.



5. Pull up the panel to detach the clips along the edge of the panel.



6. Disconnect the driver's and passenger's seat heater switch connectors.



7. Remove the screws, then separate the front panel and the rear panel from the beverage holder.



8. Remove the beverage holder trim piece from the center console (three screws) and replace it with the new beverage holder trim piece.



9. Reinstall the rear panel, the front panel, on the new beverage holder.



10. Reconnect the driver's and passengers seat heater switch connectors.



11. Reinstall the center console panel.



12. With MT only Reinstall the spacer and shift knob.
