Porsche launched the Macan SUV back in 2014. It has since gone on to become the brand’s best-selling model. Not bad at all for a brand that exclusively built two-door sports cars for decades. Porsche is expecting nothing less than continued strong sells with the refreshed 2019 Macan, due to hit showrooms next summer. But first, it will be making its US debut later this month at the LA Auto Show.
Just ahead of that event, Porsche has announced the 2019 Macan’s new base price and other relevant information regarding standard features. The 2019 Porsche Macan will carry a base MSRP of $49,900, excluding the $1,050 delivery and handling fee.
The outgoing 2018 model begins at $47,800, also minus the fee. Do the math and that’s a $2,100 increase. Just a few of the updates to the hot-selling compact SUV includes more standard features, such as a larger 10.9-inch full HD touch screen equipped with the latest version of the Porsche Communication Management system, which is also included in the Cayenne and Panamera. Users can, for example, customize the interface by positioning movable tiles and choosing from a number of functions. Porsche Connected Plus and online navigation are also included. Apply CarPlay, however, remains optional. Android Auto is still unavailable.
Under the hood lies a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque and paired exclusively to the familiar seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Zero to 60 mph happens in 6.3 seconds and with the available Launch Control that time is reduced to 6.1 seconds, but who’s counting? Porsche engineers also updated the chassis for improved comfort and an even more sports car-like ride.
A few other new options for 2019 include a GT sport steering wheel taken from the 911 and the Sport Chrono package. Among the many exterior updates are a new 3D LED light panel at the rear, standard LED headlights, and several new paint colors such as Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue, and Chalk. Order books are already open.
