1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.



2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).



3. Do the self-diagnostic function with the HDS or the climate control unit.



4. Check for DTCs.



Is DTC B1213 or N and Mode indicated?



YES -



Go to step 5.



NO -



Intermittent failure, check for loose wires or poor connections in the rear evaporator temperature sensor circuit.?



5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



6. Remove the rear evaporator temperature sensor See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch/Service and



Repair/Rear Evaporator Temperature Sensor Replacement, and test it See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Testing and Inspection/Component



Tests and General Diagnostics/Rear Evaporator Temperature Sensor Test.



Is the rear evaporator temperature sensor OK?



YES -



With the rear evaporator temperature sensor disconnected, go to step 7.



NO -



Replace the rear evaporator temperature sensor See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch/Service and



Repair/Rear Evaporator Temperature Sensor Replacement.?



7. Disconnect climate control unit connector B (14P).



8. Check for continuity between climate control unit connector B (14P) terminal No. 6 and rear evaporator temperature sensor 2P connector

5. Disconnect the right BSI alert indicator 2P connector.



6. Measure the resistance between right BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.



Is the resistance as specified?



YES -



Go to step 7.



NO -



Repair an open in the wire between the right BSI alert indicator and body ground (G507).?



7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and within 3 seconds measure the voltage between right BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminals No. 1



and No. 2.



Does the voltage remain between 12 V and 1 V for 3 seconds after turning the ignition switch to ON (II), then go down to 0 V?



YES -



Replace the right BSI alert indicator.?



NO -



Go to step 8.



8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



9. Disconnect the BSI control unit 16P connector.



10. Measure the resistance between right BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.?



4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



5. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.



6. Remove the glove box See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Glove Compartment/Service and Repair, then disconnect the



dashboard wire harness 4P connector (A) from the front passenger's airbag.



7. Connect the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ohms connectors) and simulator lead J to the dashboard wire harness 4P connector.



8. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.



9. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.



10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 12-9x or 12-Bx indicated?



YES -



Go to step 11.



NO -



Short to ground in the front passenger's airbag first or second inflator; replace the front passenger's airbag See: Restraints and Safety Systems/Air



Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Passenger's Airbag Replacement, then clear the DTC.?



11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



12. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.



13. Disconnect SRS unit connector A (39P) from the SRS unit.



14. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from the SRS simulator lead. Do not disconnect the simulator lead from the dashboard wire harness 4P



connector.



15. Measure the resistance between body ground and each terminals of both SRS simulator leads individually. There should be an open circuit or

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals between the yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor 4P



connector, and the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.?



11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



12. Substitute a known-good yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction



Control Systems/Yaw Rate Sensor/Service and Repair.



13. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



14. Clear the DTC with the HDS.



15. Test-drive the vehicle around a number of corners.



NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.



16. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 132, 133, 135, or 136 indicated?



YES -



Go to step 17.



NO -



Replace the original yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control



Systems/Yaw Rate Sensor/Service and Repair.?



17. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction



Control Systems/Traction Control Module/Testing and Inspection. If the unit already has the latest software, substitute a known-good VSA



modulator-control unit See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Traction Control Module/Service and



Repair.



18. Test-drive the vehicle around a number of corners.



NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.



19. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 132, 133, 135, or 136 indicated?



YES -



Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Check for a loose connection at G303. If the VSA modulator-control



unit was updated, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control



Systems/Traction Control Module/Service and Repair, then retest. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.



NO -



If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, replace the



original VSA modulator-control unit See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Traction Control



Module/Service and Repair. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.?

YES -



Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.?

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 34, 35, or 36 indicated?



YES -



Go to step 6.



NO -



Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).?



6. With the brake pedal released, check the master cylinder brake fluid pressure voltage (BRAKE P) with the HDS.



Is there about 0.5 V?



YES -



Go to step 7.



NO -



Check the VSA system.?



7. Test the brake booster See: Brakes and Traction Control/Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake Booster/Testing and Inspection.



8. Start the engine, then press the brake pedal with about 314 N (32 kgf, 70.6 lbf) pressure.



9. Check the master cylinder brake fluid pressure voltage (BRAKE P) with the HDS.



Is there about 2.5 V?



YES -



Go to step 10.



NO -



Check the VSA system.?



10. Check the brake switch signal (BRAKE SW (N.O.)) with the HDS.



Does the indication show ON when the brake pedal is pressed, and show OFF when the brake pedal is released?



YES -



Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, update the ACC unit See: Cruise Control/Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning, then



recheck. If the ACC unit was already updated, replace the ACC unit See: Cruise Control/Cruise Control Module/Service and Repair.?



NO -



Go to step 11.

Right Clutch Electromagnetic Coil (Open)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.



3. Do the clutch function test with the HDS See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Differential Assembly/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests



and General Diagnostics.



4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 57-1 or 57-3 indicated?



YES -



Go to step 5.



NO -



Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.?



5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



6. Disconnect SH-AWD control unit connector B (8P) and the right solenoid 4P connector.



7. Connect right solenoid 4P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.



8. Check for continuity between SH-AWD control unit connector terminal B7 and body ground.

damper control unit.?



6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



7. Disconnect active damper control unit connector B (14P) See: Relays and Modules/Relays and Modules - Steering and Suspension/Relays



and Modules - Suspension/Suspension Control Module/Service and Repair.



8. Disconnect the headlight leveling control unit 16P connector See: Lighting and Horns/Headlamp/Headlamp Alignment Control



Module/Testing and Inspection.



9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



10. Measure the voltage between body ground and active damper control unit connector B (14P) terminal No. 7.



Is there more than 0.5 V?



YES -



Repair a short to power in the wire between the left-rear suspension stroke sensor, the headlight leveling control unit, and the active damper control



unit, then go to step 17.



NO -



Go to step 11.



11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



12. Disconnect active damper control unit connector B (14P) See: Relays and Modules/Relays and Modules - Steering and Suspension/Relays



and Modules - Suspension/Suspension Control Module/Service and Repair.



13. Disconnect the left-rear suspension stroke sensor 3P connector.



14. Check for continuity between left-rear suspension stroke sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.



Is there continuity?



YES -



Repair a short in the wires between the left-rear suspension stroke sensor and the active damper control unit.?



NO -



Go to step 15.



15. Check for continuity between headlight leveling control unit 16P connector terminal No. 4 and left-rear suspension stroke sensor 3P



connector terminal No. 3.

Intermittent failure, check for loose wires or poor connections in the in-car temperature sensor circuit.?



5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



6. Remove the humidity/in-car temperature sensor See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch/Service and Repair,



and test it.



Is the in-car temperature sensor OK?



YES -



With the humidity/in-car temperature sensor disconnected, go to step 7.



NO -



Replace the humidity/in-car temperature sensor See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch/Service and Repair.?



7. Disconnect climate control unit connector A (40P).



8. Check for continuity between climate control unit connector A (40P) terminal No. 5 and body ground.



Is there continuity?



YES -



Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the climate control unit and the in-car temperature sensor.?



NO -



Go to step 9.



9. Check for continuity between climate control unit connector A (40P) terminals No. 5 and No. 8.



Is there continuity?



YES -



Repair a short in the wires between the climate control unit and the in-car temperature sensor.?



NO -



Substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original climate control unit See:



Heating and Air Conditioning/Control Assembly/Service and Repair/Climate Control Unit Removal/Installation.?



B and Mode

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



5. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.



6. Disconnect the floor wire harness 2P connector (A) from the driver's side airbag (B).



7. Connect the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ohms connectors) and simulator lead L to the floor wire harness.



8. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.



9. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.



10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 31-9x indicated?



YES -



Go to step 11.



NO -



Short to ground in the driver's side airbag inflator; replace the driver's side airbag See: Restraints and Safety Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air



Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Side Airbag Replacement, then clear the DTC.?



11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



12. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.



13. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (39P) from the SRS unit.



14. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from the SRS simulator lead. Do not disconnect the simulator lead from the floor wire harness 2P



connector.



15. Measure the resistance between body ground and each terminals of the black SRS simulator lead (A) individually. There should be an open



circuit or at least 1 MOhms.

DTC 56-3:



Right Clutch Electromagnetic Coil Current Malfunction



NOTE:



- Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Differential Assembly/Testing



and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.



- If DTC 49-1 is stored at the same time as DTC 56-3, troubleshoot DTC 49-1 first, then recheck for DTC 56-3.



1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.



3. Do the clutch function test with the HDS See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Differential Assembly/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests



and General Diagnostics.



4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.



Is DTC 56-3 indicated?



YES -



Go to step 5.



NO -



Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.?



5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



6. Disconnect SH-AWD control unit connector B (8P) and the right solenoid 4P connector.



7. Connect right solenoid 4P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.



8. Check for continuity between SH-AWD control unit connector terminal B7 and body ground.

Is DTC 21 or DTC 22 indicated?



YES -



Go to step 6.



NO -



Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).?



6. With the vehicle parked on level ground, check the YAW RATE SENSOR with the HDS.



Is about 2.5 V indicated?



YES -



The yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor signal is OK, check for loose or poor connections. If OK, replace the ACC unit See: Cruise



Control/Cruise Control Module/Service and Repair.?



NO -



Go to the VSA system troubleshooting See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and



Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.?



TPMS System



TPMS DTC Troubleshooting: 21, 22, 23, 24



DTC 21, 22, 23, 24:



Tire Pressure Sensor Abnormally High Temperature



1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



2. Check the tire indicated by the DTCs you retrieved.



NOTE: An abnormal rise in the internal temperature of the tires can be caused by:



- Excessive braking



- Failure to release the parking brake (rear tires only)



- Leaving the vehicle running while parked



- Improper assembly of a wheel and tire



3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).



4. Make sure the tires have cooled down.



5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).



Does the TPMS indicator go off within one minute?



YES -



The system is OK at this time. Clear the DTC with the HDS.?



NO -



Go to step 6.



6. Check the RF, LF, RR, or LR TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR TEMPERATURE in the TPMS DATA LIST with the HDS.



NOTE: If the HDS screen shows UNDEFINED for sensor status, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), rotate the tire 1/4 turn, then turn the ignition
